Did I get a good deal?

Drop in your CigarBid invoice or order email. We’ll share the shipping, tax and credits across your cigars, show what each one really cost, and rate every winning bid against recorded auction closes.

  • Read in your browser, never uploaded
  • Nothing stored unless you save it
  • Paste a CigarBid order, or upload a PDF
  1. On CigarBid, open My Account → Order History and click the order.
  2. Select the whole page (Ctrl/⌘+Apress and hold, then Select All) and copy it.
  3. Paste it below. Your name and address can stay in: only cigar names are sent to look up prices.

The whole page is fine: menus and footer text are ignored. Order emails and other invoices work too.

How the checker works

Three numbers for every line on your CigarBid order.

The real cost

Shipping, tax, fees and credits are shared across the lines in proportion to price, to the cent, so the lines add up to exactly what you paid.

Per pack and per cigar

Each lot’s landed cost is divided by the units you won and the cigars in each, so a 5-pack and a box of 25 compare fairly.

Was it a good deal?

Your winning bid against the cigar’s typical close, its usual range and record low and high, plus retail per stick where we track it.

Questions

Is my invoice uploaded or stored?

No. The file is read by your own browser and never sent to AshBid. Only the cigar names are sent, to look up their prices. Nothing is saved unless you’re logged in and press “Save to my purchases”, and then only the lines (cigar, quantity, price), never the file.

How are shipping and tax split between the cigars?

In proportion to price. A $200 box carries ten times the shipping, tax and credits of a $20 five-pack, which is how sales tax works and the fairest way to share a flat shipping charge. Every cent is accounted for, so the lines add up to your order total.

What is the “typical close”?

The middle (median) of the last 100 recorded CigarBid closes for that cigar and pack size, with FreeFall sales left out. The typical range is the 10th to the 90th percentile, and the record low and high are the cheapest and dearest sales we have seen.

Why is my bid compared before shipping and tax?

Recorded closes are winning bids, before shipping and tax, so your bid is compared on the same footing. Retail prices are compared with your landed cost per cigar (after shipping and tax), which is the fairer test against a shop.

What if my lot was a different pack size?

Prices are compared per cigar, so a 10-pack can be judged against box prices. Fix the “cigars each” number on a line if the title doesn’t say how many cigars were in it.

AshBid is independent and not affiliated with CigarBid. Typical closes are winning bids recorded by AshBid, before shipping and tax.
